Hand Fettled Yorkstone
Hand Fettled Paving Stone is made by our Stone Masons using a hammer and chisel. Each piece is hand made. The bed is forced apart giving the Riven Face and then the edges are Fettled in the traditional manner used centuries ago.
This type of finish is perfect for someone who is seeking a more traditional look. This is the more solid choice of the two, the hand fettling ensures that the stone masons are aware of any flaws in the stone and the piece is then discarded as it is impossible to hand fettle a piece of stone that is flawed. Sawn Edged paving on the other hand is for people looking for a more contemporary finish. This look is created using a mechanical saw to create smooth as well as a perfectly straight edge.
All of our Yorkstone paving stones are gauged at 600 mm in width by random lengths and range from 35-65mm in depth.
The colour tones range from Buff to Brown or Buff to Grey depending on which area of the quarry the stone is extracted from.
